This registration utility will register the door game Wild West by High Seas
Programming (tm).

Various bugs present in some versions of the game make registering this
particular door very troublesome. Please follow all directions in this file
exactly and in order.

To generate a set of registration codes, run the DOS executable file
"WWREG.EXE". Enter the SysOp first and last names as you wish them to appear
in the door. Each of the names has a specific length limit and the combined
length of both names may not exceed 30 characters. The code generator will
display the number of characters available for a name and will not allow an
entry over this limit.

The SysOp name information is displayed to users at the main menu of the game
as:

          This game is..
        *** Registered ***
    TO: <SysOp First Name> <SysOp Last Name>

Three registration codes will be generated and displayed. Record the codes
and enter them into the game by performing the following steps.

1. Copy the "WWREG.EXE" executable file to the game's directory. Find the
version of the installed door by running the executable with the command
   line of:

     WWREG.EXE /V

Ensure the versions of the two game executable files are what is expected.
Also be sure the versions of "WILDCFG.EXE" and "WILDWEST.EXE" match.

Version 1a/1b users: The file "WILDCFG.EXE" is identical for game versions
1a and 1b. This file will be reported as version "1a/1b" and will work for
   either version of the game.

No files are modified by running the registration utility with this command
   line switch.

2. Run the game's "WILDCFG.EXE" configuration utility.

   Select the option:

     (1) Create "WILDWEST.CTL" file

   Ensure the options:

     (1) SYSOP FIRST NAME :
     (2) SYSOP LAST NAME :

exactly match the names entered into the code generator. Also edit the
   BBS name with the option:

     (3) BBS NAME :

The SysOp names and BBS name configured at this point may not be changed
once the registration codes have been entered.

Select "(Q)uit and save" to return to the main menu once the three names
have been entered correctly. Select the option "(Q)uit the Configuration
   Program" to exit the utility.

3. Delete the file "BBSINFO.DAT" in the game's directory if it exists. This
file will be re-created when the registration codes are entered into the
   game's configuration utility.

4. Run the game's "WILDCFG.EXE" configuration utility again. Select the
   option:

     (2) REGISTER "Wildwest"

to enter the three registration codes. Enter each of the three when
prompted. The utility will state whether the codes have been entered
correctly. Press <ENTER> to return to the main menu, then select
"(Q)uit the Configuration Program". The registration codes must be
accepted by the utility in order to proceed.

5. Version 1a users only:

Run the registration utility with the command line of:

       WWREG.EXE /F

This will modify the data file "BBSINFO.DAT" if needed to allow proper
registration of the door. Run the door game as normal to verify the
     registration status.

Version 1b to 1e users only:

Run the door game normally to verify its registration status. If the
configuration utility accepted the registration codes but the door
reports a status of "***Unregistered***", run the registration utility
     with the command line of:

       WWREG.EXE /F

Run the door once again to verify the proper registration status.

   Version 2 users:

No further steps are needed. The door game should now be registered.
