This distribution contains both a registration key generator for all Grunt!
versions of 1.040 and a utility to allow Grunt! V1.040[k] to run after being
patched for the Pascal runtime error.

  GRUNTREG.EXE - Key generator
  GRUNTFIX.EXE - GRUNT.EXE update utility

GRUNTREG.EXE
------------

This keyfile generator will create a registration keyfile for Grunt! versions
1.040 and above. Run the DOS executable GRUNTREG.EXE and enter the
information you wish the game to be registered with. The utility will create
a keyfile named "GRUNT.KEY". Copy this file into the main Grunt! directory.
The game will now be registered using the information you provided.

GRUNTFIX.EXE
------------

This utility works on Grunt! V1.040[k] only.

Grunt! was written in and compiled with Borland Turbo Pascal 7 and uses the
Pascal CRT unit. This means the game suffers from the infamous Runtime error
200 when run on faster machines. The executables will not run without first
using one of the CRT unit patch programs.

GRUNT.EXE also contains program code which performs a verification of its own
.EXE file and will refuse to run if the check fails. Once patched for the CRT
problem, GRUNT.EXE will always immediate exit after displaying:

NOTE: THIS PROGRAM HAS ENCOUNTERED A FATAL ERROR! "ERROR.LOG" HAS DETAILS.

The file ERROR.LOG created by the program will contain the entry:

ERROR NO. : [213] @ FAILED SELF VERIFICATION CHECK

GRUNTFIX.EXE will allow GRUNT.EXE to run after being patched. Follow these
steps:

 1. Patch GRUNT.EXE and the other applicable .EXE files with your favorite
    Runtime error 200 patch program.

 2. Run GRUNTFIX.EXE from the same directory which contains GRUNT.EXE. The
file GRUNT.EXE will be updated and will now be able to run.

GRUNTFIX.EXE itself does not patch for the Runtime error 200. It merely
updates the self-verification data in GRUNT.EXE to reflect the changes made by
the CRT patch program.
